Big Energy Saving Week 2016 – What can your business do to make a difference?

Written by Love Energy Savings at 14:13

Every year, a week is put aside to encourage awareness of how we could all save money on our energy bills and save the planet at the same time!

This national campaign, run by the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) in collaboration with the Energy Saving Trust (EST) and the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), is now in its sixth year and was set up to raise awareness of how energy customers can switch supplier, or tariff, to get the best deal and how they can become more energy efficient too.

At Love Energy Savings, this is our mission 365 days a year, so we are fully in support of this campaign and want to encourage more businesses to take the opportunity to check, switch and save.

In 2016, the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) reported that domestic consumers had been overpaying by £1.4 billion a year because of a lack of competition within the sector.

For SMEs, the situation is even worse! Our recent research found that SMEs across the UK have lost over £2.4 billion over the last 5 years by failing to switch supplier.

It’s quick and simple to check out the market and see what other options are out there, as there’s no reason why businesses should be paying this much, especially with Love Energy Savings here to help you compare over 150 tariffs from 18 different suppliers in seconds!

Switch

The belief that switching is time consuming and plagued with difficulties is a myth we’re determined to de-bunk, here at Love Energy Savings. If anything, going it alone will be time consuming – going back and forth between suppliers, trying to negotiate a better deal etc.

So, why not let us do all the hard work for you?

By comparing and switching through us, we’ll do all the leg-work. From comparing the market, to advising you on the best tariffs for your business’s needs, to liaising with suppliers on your behalf and working with you to ensure the switch goes live when your old contract ends.

A briefing paper released by the Citizens Advice Bureau claimed that homeowners were losing out on around £300 by failing to switch, for businesses, we’ve found that our customers have saved an average of £1,500 (since 2007) when they have switched with us – that’s a huge five times more than their domestic counterparts!

There is no excuse not to take a minute or two to check how much you could be saving on your business gas and electricity. Using our award-winning comparison engine, all it takes is a few details, which can be found on your last energy bill, and in seconds you will be able to see the savings available to you from a full range of suppliers including the ‘Big Six’ and numerous independent suppliers.

Save

The final part of the Big Energy Savings’ campaign is all about energy efficiency, and that is something that Love Energy Savings are also passionate about.

Our annual Love Energy Savings Awards are now closed for another year, but with big plans already underway for 2017, we are keen to see as many businesses as possible step up their green-game and become a Love Energy Savings Award contender next year.

Details of the awards and their winners can be found here, and if you need some inspiration on how you could start reducing that carbon footprint, we have a great guide focused specifically on how businesses can reduce their energy usage in Q4.

So, there you have it, it’s now quicker and easier than ever to save money on your business energy.
