  • What information do I need to compare business electricity prices?

To ensure we can provide the most accurate comparisons of business electricity, it’s important that you provide as much information as possible. In our energy comparison engine we’ll ask you for information about existing supplier is and what you currently pay. If you have a recent copy of your bill to hand, you’ll be able to accurately compare electricity prices based on your kilowatt hour (kWh) consumption. If you don’t have a copy, you could log into your account or speak to your energy provider directly. Read our guide to switching business energy here.

  • How can I compare kWh consumption on business electricity quotes?

When you complete your details in our comparison engine, you’ll be taken to a page that will show you all the electricity deals and electricity suppliers that are available to you. Here, you will see a breakdown of your savings compared to what you are currently paying. • I want to switch to cheaper businesses electricity deals across multiple business premises. How do I do this?

If you want to switch to a cheaper electricity deal across multiple sites you will have to request a quote for each site. Alternatively, call us directly to tell us about your current electricity rates and we can provide a quote for each site.

  • Do electricity prices fluctuate?

Yes, energy prices can change from day to day and will typically rise year-on-year. Many factors can influence this, including fluctuations in market rates. Also, as the UK imports gas and electricity, environmental changes - such as severe weather conditions - can impact the price you pay for energy. The best way to ensure you get the price possible is to secure a new deal as soon as possible. You can start looking for new deals between 6 and 12 months before your contract ends, so if you’re prepared, you could make some big savings - and fix that rate for up to 5 years!

  • I’m about to move out of my business premises. Should I still switch to a cheaper deal?

Even if you are about to move to a different business site, it’s always worth switching to a new deal. If you don’t do this, you risk ‘going out of contract’, which means you’ll be paying higher rates on your electricity. All fixed-tariff contracts feature a ‘change of premises’ clause which supersedes any early-exit penalty fees. Read our guide to changing tenancy for more information.

  • How long will it take to switch electricity suppliers?

In most cases we can switch the day after your contract with your current supplier ends providing we have given your provider 30 days’ notice before your contract end date. We provide Track My Switch for all our customers which allows you to see where your switch is up to.

  • When I switch to a new electricity supplier, will my supply be cut off?

No, your energy supply will not be cut off during the switching process. We’ll liaise with your existing supplier and negotiate the switch on your behalf. You can keep updated throughout with our ‘Track My Switch’ tool.

  • Are there regional variations in business electricity rates?

Yes – you will find that there are regional variations in business electricity rates, so prices will change from region to region. There are a number of factors that influence these variations, including:

    • How many suppliers sell energy in that region
    • The number of suppliers that buy from the generators in that region
    • The charges local distribution networks put onto your energy supply
  • What is an energy broker?

An energy broker acts as a third party intermediary between commercial energy suppliers and businesses. Energy brokers work with several energy providers and can help businesses compare lots of prices for energy at once - saving you the hard work of shopping around for seperate energy quotes.

  • How can I compare the market for business energy?

The easiest way to compare the market for business energy is to request a quote for business energy. Here at Love Energy Savings, we work with many well-known business energy providers, as well as several independent suppliers to bring our customers the most competitive quotes for business gas and electricity. This makes it very easy for businesses to compare quotes and choose the right one for their business.

  • What are the different business tariff options

Businesses can choose between fixed-rate tariffs and variable-rate tariffs on business energy. Fixed-rate tariffs mean the price you pay for gas or electricity is fixed for a period of time, so if energy prices fluctuate, the price you pay will not be affected. These contracts are fixed for a period of time, from 12 months to 5 years.

Variable-rate tariffs respond to energy market trends, so if the cost of energy increases, you will have to pay more for the energy you use. However, if market prices drop, you will pay less for the energy you use. You are not tied into a contract with a variable-rate tariff. To leave your supplier, you simply need to provide 30 days’ notice.

  • What is green business energy?

Green business energy is a more environmentally friendly way to power your business. If you buy your business energy from a green energy supplier, your supplier is promising to match some or all of the electricity you use with renewable energy, which is then fed back into the National Grid.

Read Love Energy Savings Guide to Green Energy Deals for more information.

  • What information do I need if I want to switch business energy?

    • Your supplier name
    • Your monthly payment amount

  • Can I switch suppliers if my business gas is supplied by an Independent Gas Transporter (IGT)?

  • What happens once I switch business gas suppliers?

    • Wholesale price
    • Demand for gas
    • Currency/exchange rates
    • Regulatory fees
    • Government levies

The best way to protect your business from rising gas prices is to choose a fixed-term contract as this means the price you pay for gas can be locked in for a number of years.

It usually takes 4-6 weeks to complete the full switch from one supplier to another; we manage this process for you, so you don’t have to. • What is a Letter of Authority?

A Letter of Authority (LOA) is used to request important information from your existing or new supplier such as contract end dates, renewal prices etc. We require a letter of authority on your behalf, which allows us to handle the switch for you – saving you time. Please complete the letter within the welcome pack and return to the address below:

FAO: Renewals Department, Love Energy Savings, Unit 2 Springfield Court, Summerfield Road, Bolton, BL3 2NT

    For more information click here

  • What if my current supplier objects to the transfer?

As long as you provide the adequate notice before the contract end date, this should prevent the supplier from objecting to the transfer. The supplier could only object if there is any outstanding debt on the account, or you are still in contract with them. If you are still bound to a contractual agreement, we would postpone the transfer to the relevant date and simply re-apply to the supplier on your behalf. In this case, the prices may differ as the market fluctuates.

  • What is a rollover contract?

A rollover contract can be known as an Evergreen or Automatic Renewal; an agreement between your business and supplier that is automatically renewed (rolled over) when the contract matures or completes, this will remain in place until it’s cancelled by either party. Most business contracts are Evergreen, which means they will automatically renew themselves if you don’t provide the relevant notice period- this could lead you to paying higher energy prices than necessary, and being unaware that it is happening.

  • How do I avoid rolling over onto higher prices?

This is our job! We understand how busy you are and therefore set a reminder to get in touch with you when it’s time to renew your energy contracts. Your Account Manager will contact you 180 days prior to your contract ending, to lock in the best prices and leave enough time to provide the adequate notice period on your existing contract.
