There’s a lot to like about Scottish Power as your next business energy supplier. They are a well-known UK brand with great green credentials, so your supply can be matched with UK-renewable generation sources.

Here’s a breakdown of the advantages and potential drawbacks to help you decide if they’re the right supplier for you.

Advantages

Potential Downsides

• Customers have raised concerns with automatic billing, but this doesn’t really impact business customers as they’re required to have a smart meter. 

• Like with all business energy contracts, you’re locked into the deal you agree to unless you’re on a variable rate deal. 

• They are not always the cheapest supplier on our panel, but prices change daily, so it is better to compare live deals to see if they’re coming up as the cheapest.

According to Which? (September 2025), Scottish Power’s overall customer service was rated just two stars in their survey — indicating significant room for improvement. 

However, this is for their domestic products and does not take into consideration business energy services. 

For business customers, Scottish Power are praised for positive customer experiences and any issues were resolved quickly. 

Scottish Power allow you to change your mind and cancel your contract free of charge in their cooling-off period. This ends 14 days after you’ve signed up or 14 days after you've confirmed your new tariff.

Exit fees do apply to some tariffs so be sure to check the terms and conditions before switching. They are usually £30 per fuel. You should also check your bills before you cancel to see if you have any balances on your account and that you can pay these upon leaving.

Business Energy customers will have much higher penalties for leaving a contract early.
