Which Suppliers Lead The Energy Best Buy Standings?

Written by at 11:12

Ultimately, finding the energy suppliers that represent the best value for homes and businesses across the United Kingdom is the name of the game here at Love Energy Savings. With that in mind, we have taken a quick look at the Energy Best Buy standings to see who are the movers and shakers are at present...

First Utility is topping the energy best buy table in July so far. The Warwick-based firm’s iSave Fixed September 2015 (paperless) tariff will cost the average UK household £992 per year in combined gas and electricity charges.

The same tariff also rates highly for electricity alone, costing the average household £451 annually, placing it in fourth position in July.

Extra Energy is hot on the heels of First Utility, charging just £1,006 per year for its Fixed Price September 2015 tariff. In third place is Green Star Energy, which charges £1,009 through its No Worries 12 Months Fixed 1406 account.

Gas & Electricity Standings...

Elsewhere in the gas and electricity charts, Flow Energy’s Thames Online Fixed September 2015 tariffs (both paperless and regular) represent good value at £1,010 each, while First Utility’s non-paperless version of its chart topping iSave Fixed tariff ranks at number six overall, with an average annual charge of £1,016.

Green Star Energy places at number seven, with its non-paperless No Worries account, while OVO Energy, EDF and Spark Energy round off the top ten for July, charging £1,028, £1,049 and £1,058 respectively.

Topping the electricity chart is iSupply Energy, whose Energy iFix 201507 (paperless) tariff will set you back just £440 per year.

Flow Energy places second and third on the electricity table, with its Thames Online Fixed September 2015 tariffs (both paperless and regular) both coming in at £447.

Smaller Energy Firms Continue To Impress...

Once again, smaller energy suppliers are beating the ‘Big Six’ of SSE, npower, British Gas, Scottish Power, EDF and E.ON. Of the UK’s biggest energy suppliers, only one account makes the energy best buy table: EDF Energy. Its Blue+ Price Promise February 2016 (paperless) combined gas and electricity tariff would cost households £1,049 per annum, while using this tariff for electricity along costs £463.

None of the other ‘Big Six’ suppliers make it into the top ten best value tariffs this month, amid evidence that customers are turning their backs on the market leaders. Earlier this month it was revealed that more than 1.5 million households have already switched suppliers this year, with 600,000 moving from a Big Six supplier to a smaller firm.

Every one of the top ten gas and electricity and electricity only tariffs are available on a fixed term contract only, proving that customer loyalty is a highly valued commodity among energy suppliers. All tariffs are calculated on a medium-usage basis, when paid by direct debit.
