It is widely known that new customers get the best broadband offers. It pays to regularly compare broadband deals. If you find a great deal, you may be wondering if you can cancel your broadband contract.
The simple answer is yes. But it is complicated. If you’re tied into a contract you will be liable to pay early termination fees. There are instances when it is beneficial to pay these fees. There are also periods when you can cancel without being penalised.
If you have recently selected a new deal but you have come across a better deal, you can cancel within the first 14 days. This is called a cooling-off period. You will not be charged a termination fee.
Broadband contracts are usually 12, 18 or 24 months. Some of the smaller broadband providers offer pay-as-you-go deals. You can also get 30-day agreements, although they are less common. Each provider has slightly different charges when it comes to cancelling contracts. Information about these charges can be found below for some of the most popular suppliers.

Each cancellation fee for Virgin Media is different. How much you are charged depends on the services you have. However, the fee is capped at £240. You will never pay more than this.
